Hedge cutting

A team of 4 work together to cut over 270 miles of road side hedges.

As part of the land rental negotiation with individual landlords, the Jersey Royal Company commit to cut hedges surrounding fields.

Under Jersey law, it is the landowners responsibility to maintain the verges and hedges on roadsides. There are two annual inspections by parish representatives, the first in July and the second in September, and if branches or foliage is overhanging then fines are levied.

Whilst the first 'branchage' (parish inspection) involves the most work, preparation for the September inspections also needs careful planning and starts during August.
