Digging with harvesters

Machine lifting is much quicker and more efficient, and is the only way to keep up with the increased demand by all customers from late April and early May through until the end of the season.

The Jersey Royal Company uses machine harvesters for the majority of its production. We currently run 25 singe row and 5 twin row harvesters.

With an average field size of only just over 2 acres (5 1/2 vergées) and narrow roads, the single row harvesters are a lot easier to manoeuvre, and are always used for opening fields / digging the headlands.

With production in full-swing, the primary grader in the pack house runs long days to size grade enough potatoes to keep the prepack section of the pack house supplied with enough stock to run 24 hours a day.
