Managing Seed Crop

The Jersey Royal Company manages all of its own seed crop in the Island, and the first stage of this is growing mini tubers.

Seedlings are planted out into pots and grown in a greenhouse to produce mini tubers. The following season these are planted outside to bulk up the seed stock, and this is repeated for two more years before they are then used for export. Producing mini tubers is an ongoing annual process to ensure that there is always fresh, virus-free seed entering the production cycle.
