Phacelia is an annual herbaceous plant
The Jersey Royal Company grows a range of 2nd crops following the harvest of Jersey Royals. One of the most eye-catching of these is phacelia that has a distinctive purple flower.
A herbacious plant, it is part of the boraginaceae family. The plant flowers over an extended period of time and is a favourite of pollinators, especially bees.
The plant is left to mature over late summer and into the autumn, and is then eventually cut back and ploughed in as a green manure, helping improve soil structure.
