Liming

Lime is spread and incorporated onto selected fields each year to raise the pH and ultimately improve the fertility of the ground.

Agricultural lime is spread on selected fields following the harvest of the Jersey Royal crop, and is incorporated when preparing the ground for the second crops.

The Jersey Royal Company buys lime in bulk. It is transported out to the fields on trailers and then spread using a small trailed spreader.

Lime was applied this year at a rate of 2t / acre, and the benefits of this should be evident the following season.

Maintaining a stable pH is key to good yield returns.
