Côtil ploughing

The early slopes called côtils are ploughed using a winch system, turning the ground over one furrow at a time.

The earliest fields are on the East of the island in sheltered spots.

 

The over-hanging trees help to prevent any frost.

A tractor at the top of the slope pulls the ploughman up the slope on a winch system.

Progress is steady, but the impact of fresh ground is an impressive site.
